Adalvo announces the first-to-market launch of generic Macitentan 10 mg film-coated tablets in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, in partnership with Norameda — the first generic version of the therapy available in the Baltic states.
Based on the reference product Opsumit®, Macitentan 10 mg film-coated tablets are indicated for the long-term treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults.
PAH is a progressive condition caused by elevated blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries, leading to worsening cardiovascular complications over time. While there is currently no cure, treatment can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. PAH is considered an orphan disease, with an estimated global prevalence of around 470,000 cases and 77,000 new diagnoses each year.
Anil Okay, Adalvo's CEO, said: "Being first to bring generic Macitentan to the Baltic states reflects Adalvo's commitment to patients living with rare and complex conditions. Our collaboration brings together Adalvo's expertise in complex generics and Norameda's strong regional market presence, ensuring this established treatment reaches more patients across the region — sooner."
Audrius Leiva, Norameda's General Manager, added: "We are proud to partner with Adalvo in bringing generic Macitentan to patients and healthcare professionals across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. At Norameda, our focus is on ensuring that important, proven therapies are available through reliable regional distribution. This launch is a meaningful step in expanding treatment access for adults living with pulmonary arterial hypertension in the Baltic states."
This first-to-market launch further expands Adalvo's growing portfolio of complex and high-value generics, including products for rare and orphan diseases, and reinforces the company's track record of bringing important therapies to patients first through trusted local partners.
Global Macitentan sales exceeded $1.8 billion in 2025, according to IQVIA data, underlining its continued commercial and clinical importance.
