Zug, Switzerland, 6 August 2026. Adalvo and Gedeon Richter Plc (GR) today announced an expanded global partnership to co-develop and supply tirzepatide therapies. Building on the companies' earlier partnership around Wegovy (semaglutide), the agreement extends their strategic collaboration into one of the most significant and fastest-growing therapeutic areas in healthcare, spanning both type 2 diabetes and obesity.
The partnership is anchored by shared investment, a resilient dual supply chain and a deliberate focus on cost leadership, positioning both companies to serve the accessible type 2 diabetes and obesity care market at scale as reference exclusivities expire. It is underpinned by a recent first regulatory milestone: the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted for review two Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) for generic tirzepatide injection in the United States, both filed at NCE-1.
Tirzepatide has rapidly become one of the most important therapies in metabolic disease, reflecting strong growth across both diabetes and obesity care worldwide. Through their expanded collaboration, Adalvo and GR are positioning themselves to support broader access to high-quality treatment options while building a long-term platform in one of healthcare's fastest-growing markets.
The tirzepatide franchise, comprising Mounjaro and Zepbound, reached combined 2025 sales of around USD 36.5 billion1, according to company reports, more than double the prior year, highlighting the scale and momentum behind the molecule.
